• We make no money on prototype services. That's right, we are a manufacturing company, and thus only provide prototyping as a service to compliment our core focuses; CNC Machining & Milling & CNC Turning & Lathe Works
• We charge enough only to cover the costs of our labor and materials and pass on the savings of unsought margin contributions to our customers.
• We allocate two CNC machining systems and turning lathes solely for the purpose of prototype work. Thus the minimal operating cost and tool replacement is lower than that of our regular production systems.
• We adopt and embrace a theory that if we provide unsurpassed prototype quality and service, you will award production business to Kamet in the future. Thus we are willing to assume short-term losses for long-term gain.

Our Prototype Processes

For twenty years, Kamet has been building high-precision Metal and plastic engineering models. Our primary objective is to verify industrial design by providing our clients with prototypes in the best possible material and highest quality. This is accomplished through CNC machining centers and a variety of 3D computer modeling programs.
We combine technical knowledge with the craftsmanship of traditional model making. With these "cut & fab" techniques, we can give any part the squared corners and sharp line characteristics of injection molding. This will allow you to fully test the form, fit, and function of your intended injection mold parts.
Naturally, our talents also extend to visual models and semi-functional models as well. We do many form study and appearance models for early aesthetic evaluation or photo shoots, usually before the internal engineering is completed. Our pioneering tooling and casting capabilities allow us to provide short-run production as well.

Our Pattern Department can build your engineering models, tooling patterns or visual models with exceptionally high precision, maintaining a tolerance of five thousandths of an inch or better

Using our multiple CNC mills we can machine any organic or linear shape you can imagine, using a provided 3D wire frame and/or surface model.
